Volvo is looking to bring the all-electric sedan to Europe in 2018 with the introduction of the Vantage Sport sedan.
The company said the sedan would go on the market as early at the end of 2018.
The Vantage will be powered by a 1.5-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol engine with a range of 200 km (124 miles) and a 0-60 mph (0-62 in the EV version) time of 3.1 seconds.
The S sedan will be the only Volvo vehicle with a fully electric drivetrain.
The all-wheel drive system, which is designed to help make the car as efficient as possible, will be a key feature for the S sedan.
Volvo is also considering the use of electric battery packs in the S, which would help with the range and power of the car.
