Posted October 11, 2018 09:02:28 Clayco Construction Australia has been around for more than 30 years and it’s been a family business for decades.
For the past 15 years, it has operated on the same premises in Brisbane, but in 2015 it decided to expand to the Northern Territory.
It’s one of the most recognised construction firms in Australia and a cornerstone of the region’s construction boom.
The company’s success lies in the quality of its products and its ability to deliver on the promise of Australian construction.
“There is a lot of excitement about the prospect of the future in building materials, and Clayco’s products are amongst the most innovative in the world,” says Chris Tully, managing director of Clayco Australia.
“It’s not just that they make great tools, it’s that they are able to make them at an affordable price.”
It’s the value proposition that makes the company so attractive, especially for first-time buyers.
“The clay can be made in the same way you would a metal shop, but the material is more durable,” says Mr Tully.
“When you look at the price, there’s nothing quite like it.”
Mr Tullie says the value of the product is a mix of the advantages of traditional manufacturing and the convenience of a home workshop.
“I think for many people, the clay can just be a fun project, a hobby, something to build,” he says.
“If they have the space to get involved in the hobby of building, the price is less of a barrier.”
Mr Taylor says it’s the convenience that sets Clayco apart.
“A lot of the customers that Clayco have is very young, they’re building for their children, their grandkids,” he said.
Mr Tayler agrees, with a view to the future of Australian building. “
For the older customer, that’s a bit different, and it could be something they’re doing with their grandchildren.”

“People that are looking for more space, or who want to build a house or house a garage, there is no reason why we can’t get closer to that in Australia,” he explains.
A look at what it takes to build the next big thing The clay is a hardy hardy plant that can withstand the extremes of weather conditions. “
But it’s about making sure the material’s good quality, and we’ve got a really good workforce here, we’ve always had people here working here, they know the material, they understand it and they want to make sure it’s as good as they can make it.”

It can grow on hard-to-reach soils, such as sandstone, but can also grow in rocky areas such as the bottom of lakes.
And while the main ingredient is clay, a number of other materials can be used, including wood chips, rubber, plastic, copper, copper alloys, titanium and other minerals.
The process The process involves building the structure out of a series of clay-like blocks, with the process taking between 15 and 30 minutes.
“We use clay to make the mortar and a combination of concrete and mortar and concrete to make this structure,” says Clayco construction manager Peter Taylor.
It involves drilling holes into the clay, then adding the concrete, then the concrete can be poured on top of it.” “
Then we have a process that starts from the bottom up, to build up the building.

The finished product is then shipped to a customer.
Clayco employs about 300 people in Australia, and has branches across the country. “
With this clay we use all the different minerals and the hardiness of the clay to provide the strength of the structure,” Mr Taylor explains.

They work in every part of the country and have been able to keep their company going for more then 15 years.
The Australian Building Industry Association says the industry has witnessed record growth since 2020, with new orders of $5.5 billion.
“Our industry is seeing strong growth, but our members and suppliers have been working hard to build upon the strong momentum, and that’s what they’re really proud of,” Mr Tynley says.
The Clayco team has been working to get the new building materials to market, and to ensure that the new products meet the requirements of the building industry.
“You can’t build a building without the clay,” Mr Tayles comments.
“Clay is a great ingredient for building.”
