Construction jobs are on the rise.
In 2016, the unemployment rate stood at 6.3 per cent.
A full 12 months later, the number of unemployed construction workers stood at 13.5 per cent, down from 13.9 per cent a year earlier.
The construction industry is expected to be the most popular occupation in 2021, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
The number of construction jobs has increased by a quarter over the past year, and the job growth is expected as the economy picks up.
The ABS says the construction industry added 3.3 million jobs between January and September 2021.
Construction employment in Queensland and South Australia has increased, with Queensland gaining the biggest number of jobs.
The unemployment rate for construction workers has decreased by one percentage point to 6.4 per cent in the past 12 months.
Workers in Queensland are also more likely to be employed in the construction and manufacturing sectors.
Queensland unemployment rate fell by 1.2 percentage points in the 12 months to the end of September 2021, down 0.3 percentage points from the same period a year ago.
