An Ontario construction worker and his girlfriend were arrested Friday night after an alleged assault in a home in the Greater Toronto Area.
The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. in the northwest Toronto suburb of Vaughan, police said in a news release.
The suspect, who was identified by police as 46-year-old Andrew G. Kostka, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, assault causing bodily harm and breaching bail conditions.
He was being held in custody.
Kostka was scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.
Police said the incident occurred on the victim’s birthday.
She was not injured.
