The Football Associations of Ireland (FAI) has announced it will appoint a specialist sports science specialist to oversee construction projects.
The FAI’s sports science advisor is expected to be appointed soon, with a report due by the end of the year.
The Sports Science Unit at the FAI is expected in the next few weeks to finalise the details of the new appointment.
According to FAI sources, the Sports Science Team will provide specialist advice on how to conduct and manage construction projects, as well as providing guidance to the construction contractor, to ensure they are properly managed and controlled.
The sports science team will also help develop the sport and recreational facilities of the FAIRI’s members, according to sources.
The new appointment comes as the FAIC is in talks with the Irish Government over its plans to extend its sports science unit and train people in construction, the Irish Times reported.
The proposed expansion of the sports science area has been controversial.
The FAI, however, believes the extension is necessary to attract the best construction experts to the Irish sports sector.
